New AtexJet Extractor for Designing Schools in NZ and Indoor Air Quality Thermal Comfort

AtexJet Extractor – Dust and Fume Extration

Egmont Air’s new AtexJet Extractor series provides compliance for MoE (Ministry of Education) recommendations for Designing Schools in New Zealand (DSNZ) including Designing Quality Learning Spaces (DQLS) and Indoor Air Quality Thermal Comfort.

Egmont Air is a renowned expert in the industry as a ‘Clean-Air-Consultant’ for dust and fume extraction including wood dust, welding fumes, hazardous-area solvents and paint fumes.

Mr Richard Stewart, Leading Clean Air Consultant comments:

“As air quality specialists, we focus on centralised dust extraction for workshop technology spaces, school woodwork machinery, and workshop hard technology areas where workplace exposure standards are considered high priority around airborne dust and substances”.

MoE (Ministry of Education) set out recommendations for Designing Schools in New Zealand (DSNZ) including Designing Quality Learning Spaces (DQLS) and Indoor Air Quality Thermal Comfort. Recommendations and requirements to do with relevant standards:

  • ATEX Equipment Directive 2014/34/EU
  • ATEX Workplace Directive 99/92/EC
  • NFPA 664
  • AS/NZS-60079 Explosive Atmospheres Series

In Combination with Workplace Exposure Standards and Guidelines

These standards, Workplace Exposure Standards, and guidelines are recommended for combustible dust regulations, controlling risk, fire and explosion prevention, safe collection of wood waste, and floor sweep-up vacuum systems.

The new standards include regulations to ensure minimum suction levels, clean air discharge, Atex certification, vertical explosion venting, and many other protocols are considered in the design and specification of dust extraction systems to ensure they are compliant and suitable for New Zealand schools, colleges and universities as stipulated by the Ministry of Education.

Egmont Air has over 28 years of experience in dust extraction and ductwork design for schools and has various systems installed in many colleges, schools, learning centre institutes, and universities throughout NZ.

The new Egmont AtexJet D30/250 Dust Collector (Atex rated and certified) is recommended for working in conjunction with Atex Equipment Directives and risks associated with explosive atmospheres and dust extract systems.
