James Cook Joinery, a Petone-based specialist in high-end kitchens and solid-timber cabinetry, has built a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and quality. When Mike Telfer took over as Managing Director in 2021, he aimed to elevate this reputation further by setting a new benchmark for premium kitchen production in the Lower North Island.
A significant part of this vision was the relocation to a new, larger factory—a move that expanded their manufacturing capacity by over 300%. However, with this expansion came a new set of challenges. The increased factory size required a robust dust extraction solution capable of maintaining a clean working environment while supporting the high standards of production quality that Mike was determined to uphold.

The challenge was not just the size of the factory, but the need for a system that could efficiently manage dust extraction across a main duct extending over 60 metres. To meet these demands, Egmont Air was selected to design and install a state-of-the-art dust extraction system. With their expertise, they engineered a solution featuring a high-pressure fan capable of delivering consistent suction across long distances, automatically adjusting airflow based on the operational needs of different machines. This approach ensured that James Cook Joinery could maintain a clean, efficient, and future-proofed production environment.
